Current Events
Summer Cycling Club 2009 The cycling club for 2009 is now finished for the winter. We hope to resume again in 2010. Thanks to all who supported it.
Sensory Garden Project
The Friends Of Kings Park have partnered with pupils at King's Park Secondary School to plan and construct
a sensory garden in King's Park.
A planning meeting was held with the Science staff of the school, Ryan Noble, the officer in charge of cleansing and Jim Paterson, Land Services Development Officer.
A site was chosen adjacent to the walled garden and the Gardening Club and a site visit by the pupils will take place next week. Following this visit the pupils will then begin the project of designing the garden after appropriate research and development work.
The Project work will take place within the school with occasional visits to similar gardens and the planned construction will commence in Spring 2009. The role of the Friends of Kings Park will be to provide support both in the park and in the school throughout the designing and construction stages.
Ongoing Events
Healthy Walks Kings Park supports the 'Healthy Walks' initiative. These take place every morning at 11am and are guided by the Park Rangers.
Gardening Club
One feature in the park is the Gardening Club which is developing an impressive
trade in the sale of plants which are nurtured through the winter by dedicated
members of the club.
Children Activities
A new play area for young children has been developed by FOKP.
A current aim is to provide more seating around the periphery of the play area.
Also catering for children of all ages is a football pitch where informal
football takes place throughout the year.
Pollock Park Mountain Biking

A regular mountain biking event held at Pollock Park aimed at teenagers.

Past Events
2009

The Summer cycling project has been successfully completed. Below are some images of the event (click on each image to show a larger version).
April 2008 The FOKP together with the 'Clean Glasgow' initiative, undertook a clean up of the park with P6 and P7 pupils from Croftfoot Primary. The children throughly enjoyed the activity and the Park is restored to its best as a result.
In 2007

In 2007, a project took place involving the pupils and staff from Kings Park Secondary school. The pupils took part in a competition to design a raised flower bed in the
walled garden.
The winning design was selected and prepared for planting which was
then carried out by the pupils themselves in the walled garden with the assistance
of the park staff.
The raised bed was then on show for the season and made a significant contribution to
the walled garden display.
In 2006 - 2007
Two 'Fun Days' took place in the park in 2006 and 2007, which were supported
by community groups including the FOKP.
This year, the decision was taken to hold the event every second year in the future.
